Become a Maternity Mate Volunteer

Maternity Mates volunteer alongside midwives and other health professionals, supporting the mother to understand the issues and decisions that affect her care.

Our aim is to ease the mother’s concerns and help her gain a positive experience of giving birth and caring for her new baby.

You know what hundreds of pregnant women crave?

Support.

Here at Parent Action, we have been working closely with Sister Circle to bring the Maternity Mates programme to Southwark borough, so that women living with challenging circumstances don't have to face pregnancy and birth alone.

The programme offers 1-2-1 pregnancy, birth, and post-natal support. Becoming a Maternity Mate is an amazing thing you can do to support women in your community. It is also a great opportunity to develop your skills, as the training and experience you get can also support your professional development.
